Born Germany. He along with his brothers Jacob, Casper & George let his large family of small children to fight in the War of the Revolution in Captain Kooken's company. In 1769 when his father died Jacob sold his 2 shares to Christopher,who in turn sold his share & Jacob's 2 shares to his brother Casper jr. & moved to Thomasville, NC, Rowan County, now Davies. Some of their children were born in Pennsylvania and the rest were born in North Carolina.
According to the records Christopher was the first Hepler to settle in North Carolina. He bought 500 acres on Hanby's & Abbots Creek near the place where Emanuel Church now stands. The family were Lutherans when they arrived in Pa. We have no idea where they worshipped in NC. Have no idea where the buriel place for these pioneers is. Since their last sale of land in Pa. took place in 1787, they probably settled in NC about 1788. Loading their families and goods into the large conestoga wagons they set out. How long did it take them to get there? Daniel Boone whose homestead is a shrine given over to Boy Scout activities is within 25 miles of the original Hepler home. History tells us that between 1774 - 1790 more than 70,000 people traveled over the warrior's path, the Christopher Hepler family among them. They arrived in time to be counted in the 1790 census. Catherine was probably the D/O Henry Hertzel. His land bordered Casper's farm.
