David S/O Jacob & Elizabeth Hepler was born in 1790. His death certificate and all census records , and tomb stone all indicate the same 1790 date. At his death, July 15, 1853, David had 7 living children, Levi, (Lydian or Gydian), David, Mary, Joseph, Elizabeth and Leah. A son Daniel had died previously and was buried next to David at Madison, Pa.

David was born in Pennsylvania. He was brought by his father and family to South Huntingdon Township, Westmoreland County, Pa. sometime before 1798. He was recorded in the 1800 Census as a male child living with his father "Jacob Hepler" in South Huntingdon Township. The location was just east of the Hoffman's Lutheran Church "Old Brick". The 1811 Tax records recorded David as a potter, as living in South Huntingdon Township. In 1814 David bought land in Hempfield Township and lived near Madison, Pennsylvania. In 1826, he bought Lot #2 in Mount Pleasant at the diamond, and a few years later another piece of ground in Mount Pleasant. The 1830 Census recorded David as living in Mount Pleasant Township. It is believed that he ran a pottery business in Mount Pleasant. In 1839 he bought a lot in Athensville (now Mendon) from Joseph Hartley. On October 17, 1846 David and Mary sold a 3 acre lot in Mount Pleasant, Pa. to George Coder. In David's will, written in 1847, he mentions wife Mary to get the Athensville land and son Joseph to get a colt as he was the only one of his children who had not received one.
