2nd. Fred Snyder -b. 1795 d. 1875

Thought you might be interested in this. I bought this chest years ago at a household auction in Pitman. The painted inscriptions, which are difficult to decipher, reads " Anna Maria Heblern" on the left and "Anno 1816" on the right. Anna Maria was the daughter of Johannes Hepler and Maria Catharine Maurer. Anna Maria married Emanual Christ. I restored the feet.The drawers and till box are missing (parts of the till box were nailed into the drawer openings). I hope to complete the restoration some day. This particular style of dower's chests was made only in the Mahantongo Valley. Only a handful are known to exist and to my knowledge the identity of the cabinetmaker is still unknown.-
