THE HEPLER COOKBOOK

We're cooking up a Hepler cookbook and we need your recipes! 

We missed the target of having it ready by August 2000.

The new sale date will be at the Reunion in 2001.

Old recipes, favorite meals, your everyday recipes that you take for granted. Do you put a secret spice in your chili? Are you always asked to bring your potato salad (made from Grandma's recipe) to picnics?

Pass the word around your family members and dig out those dog-eared papers from your recipe box! Feel free to send more than one recipe.

Mammy Hepler's Sugar Cookies

3-1/2 cups sugar
1/2 cup butter
1 cup Crisco
4 eggs
1 cup buttermilk
2 teaspoons baking soda
7 cups flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon vanilla

Mix eggs, sugar, butter, & Crisco. Mix baking soda into buttermilk. Mix flour & salt. Add flour & buttermilk, alternately to egg mixture. Use a 1/4 cup measure for large cookies.
Bake greased pan- 350 deg. about 12-15 minutes. Makes approximately 2 dozen large cookies. Frost if desired.
