In Loving Memory of Avice Morgan Hepler


1918-2001

PITMAN -- Avice E. Morgan, 83, of Pitman RR 1, died at 7:42 p.m. Monday, May 21, 2001 at Pottsville Hospital. She was a former resident of Schoolyard Square in Pine Grove and a patient at Tremont Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Tremont.

Born in Pitman on March 26, 1918, she was a daughter of the late Harry and Viola (Morgan) Hepler. 

She attended Pine Park High School, Leck Kill. She was recognized as one of the top 20 Mary Kay sales consultants in the country. She and her husband, Paul, owned and operated Morgan Orchards in Pitman. During the 1940s, she had been an Army inspector at Parrish Steel, Reading, and later in the Ordinance Depot at Cressona. 

Her husband died July 22, 1998. 

She was a genealogist who wrote eight books on the Wagner, Morgan, Hepler and Mattern families. She helped organize the Hepler and Morgan reunions. 

She was a member of St. James Lutheran Church and its Lutheran Church Women, Pitman; Daughters of the American Revolution, Mahantongo Chapter, Pottsville; the Tri-Valley, Schuylkill County and Northumberland County historical societies; Mahantongo Valley, Tri-Valley and Herndon senior citizens groups; and the Mahantongo Valley Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary. Also, she was the Eldred Township chairperson for the March of Dimes for a number of years. 

She received recognition from the Mahantongo Valley Fire Company for her outstanding service to the organization and the community. She planned and directed the annual fire company parade for many years.
