Climb aboard, cousins, for our third Hepler Tour of Europe. We visit the birthplace of our emigrant ancestor, Caspar Hepler, Sr. (1715-1769), pioneer settler of Lehigh County, Pennsylvania. We walk the streets he knew in Vaihingen on the Enz River near Stuttgart. We attend services in the great gothic Town Church in Vaihingen where he was baptized, and visit the Lomersheim Church, up river, where he and Susanna Scheible were married in 1743.

Our visit to Vaihingen- the Hepler Mecca- coincides with the great 300- year old "Maientag" Festival at Pentecost. Be prepared for costumed parades, ompah music from local bands, folk-dancing, and Swabian fellowship. We are invited as special guests to the Mayor's luncheon in the Town Hall where Swabian specialties and Enz Valley wines are on the menu.

In addition to the Hepler focus, we visit major areas in Germany and Switzerland, connected to our Pennsylvania Dutch / Pennsylvania German backgrounds. We visit open-air museums (German and Swiss Williamsburgs), drive up into the Bernese Alps after an afternoon lake-steamer journey from Thun to Interlaken, and cruise the Rhine River by steamer from Bacharach to Mainz. And, practice up your Pennsylvania Dutch for our visit to the Palatinate, place of origin of thousands of Pennsylvania families.

The Hepler Heritage Tour III is limited to 40 (forty) persons, one comfortable Mercedes bus load of "Happy Heplers!". Reservations are all confirmed and we fly Philadelphia-Frankfurt-Philadelphia via USAirways. Those flying from other states can have their tickets joined to the international travel ticket.
