HAPPY BIRTDHAY TO ME

Ariana at her birthday party with her “geen” cake

Hi everybody!

It’s me, Ariana (I call myself “Ana”). My Mommy and Daddy said I could write another letter for my birthday this year to let you know how I am doing and how my year has been. My vocabulary has improved quite a bit, so this should be easier this year.

Well, I started the new year off in a new place. Mommy, Daddy and I all moved far away to a place called ocleehoma. It is far from my friends, but I have made some new friends and grown to like it here. We moved to a bigger place than the one in Alabama. Speaking of bigger, Mommy’s tummy kept on getting bigger and bigger after we moved. In September, I learned why. One night they woke me up and said it was time to go to the hospital. It seemed like a silly place to go in the middle of the night to me, but I went. When we got there, they hooked Mommy up to these wires and things. Aunt Rachel came over and we went to sleep in a call room (whatever that is). When I woke up, Daddy took me to see what Mommy and he came to the hospital to get…… a baby brother! They named him Charis. I couldn’t pronounce that for a long time, so I called him “Ca-ca” for months. They thought this was funny. I have really loved having my brother around. He makes a big mess when he eats, so I call him “baby messy”. Now he is even standing up by himself and chasing me by crawling. He laughs at me when I am silly. Brothers are fun. I hope we can get another one someday soon.

The weather out here has been fun, too. In the fall, it was pretty. The trees all changed colors and the leaves fell on the ground (to play in). At Christmas, we went to Florida to visit “Gama”, “Popi”, “Mimi” and “Paw Paw”. We all stayed in the same house. It was fun. I got to put baby “gee-sis” (Jesus) in the manger on Christmas Eve. On that trip I also discovered that ice is great to eat. When we came home to ocleehoma, there was ice all over the ground. I always had my cup with me, and I would ask mommy and daddy to pull the car over to get some more for me when I was finished eating it.

Daddy was gone a lot this year. Mommy said he was working hard for our family. I would go to the hospital sometimes to see him and run down the hall and give him a big hug. He likes that. He says I’m his “Little Princess”. He calls me “Munchkin” a lot too. Daddy is always telling me how precious I am. He thinks it is neat now when I call other people “pesish” too.

In March, Mommy and Daddy started putting all of my toys in boxes. I thought they were being silly, so I would help them by taking them out (just like I take the folded laundry off the couch when they accidentally put it there). They always appreciate me being the “big helper” as Mommy says. Well, they did put all of my toys in boxes and moved them out to another house. It took a long time, but with my help we finally took it all out. The new house is great. My room (oh yeah, Charis’ room too) is so-o-o big. The best part of the new house is that I have my very own park right in my front yard (actually, it is across the street and Mommy won’t let me go by myself). It has a “boo fwing” (blue swing) and a “boo side” (blue slide). Did I mention I know all my colors?

On Mother’s Day this year, Mommy and Daddy woke me up from a nap to go to the hospital. I was confused because Daddy wasn’t working. This time when I went, they put needles in my arms and took some of my “red blood”. We stayed there a LONG time and Mommy and Daddy let me eat lots of yummy stuff I have never had before like jello, cake, chips, popsicles, and coffee for dunking my bagel. We have gone to the hospital lots of times. I get to see Skippy, the bunny and watch lots of videos when we go. My favorite videos are “kid’s singing” (bible songs), “clue singing” (Blue’s Clues) and “Bob” (Veggie Tales). Sometimes, I can see the “copter” (helicopter) out the window. On other days, I get to go to the clinic so they can put a needle in my “port” and take some “red blood”. They sure do want me to give them a lot of blood these days. I don’t mind, but I always tell them “no tape”. Sometimes they listen. I like my nurses and Miss Kathy’s candles. My doctor’s are nice too. Mommy and Daddy tell me that I have cancer, whatever that is. They say that “gee-sis” (Jesus) and the medicine are making me all better, though. Mommy always tells me when it is going to hurt and that it is okay to cry. I believe her because she and Daddy have cried lots too.

“Mimi” has been here for a long time with me. She helps with Charis, especially when we go to the hospital. She washes my “binkies” when they fall on the floor. I get to go outside with her and dig in the dirt. I didn’t use to like getting dirty, but now I think it is fun. It’s even more fun to squirt Mommy and Mimi with the hose. They like it too because they start running around when I do it. I also like being in the yard because I don’t have to wear a “mask” like I do at the park because there are “lots of kids” at the park and “no kids” in my yard. I even have my own “red fwing” in my yard.

Guess what? Did you know that God made the moon? My Daddy told me that one of the reasons God made it was for me to enjoy it. I sure do. I say “wake up moon” every day to get it to come see me. It works most of the time. When I am looking for the moon, I see lots of “airpanes” and wave to the pilots. I always know South West “airpanes” because they are “ornege” (orange). Mommy told me that the “ornege” airplane even called us and gave us tickets that cost “no monee” so that my MiMi and Gama can come stay with Charis when I am in the hospital. I think South West is “pesish”. I also point to the sky and tell Mommy and MiMi that it is “coudy” (cloudy) or “ceer” (clear). When they ask me how I know that, I say “moon” or “no moon,” since everyone knows you can see the moon during the day if it isn’t cloudy. Oh yea, just the other day I was outside playing and this little gray thing kept chasing me. I followed it all over the driveway. When I raised my arms, it did too. I tried to run away from it, but my Mommy told me it was my “sadow” (shadow) and it follows me everywhere I go. I like my “sadow”. She’s cute.

Last month, I followed Mommy into the bathroom like I always do. After a few minutes, she showed me a purple line on a white stick and asked if I knew what that meant. All I could say was “yeah” and “purple”. Then she said that the line meant that there was a baby in her tummy. Wow! How could it fit in there? I got a big smile. I keep trying to touch it through her “beyee button”. I tried to hear it with Daddy’s stethoscope, but it wouldn’t talk. I don’t know if it is a boy or a girl, but I keep saying I want a sister (since Charis is already the brother).

I have lots of great friends here. Little Joshie is my favorite. He is younger, but very cute. Lots of people think he is my brother (he is ¼ Italian & ½ Korean). I don’t think he is, but he sure is around a lot. I also love “Roooth”, his mommy and “Teev” (Steve), his daddy. I am very happy because my best friend from Alabama, “Shushie” (Lucie), just moved to ocleehoma too. She must not live close because I don’t see her everyday like I used to.

Bubble gum is one of my favorite foods right now. I like the “boo gum” almost as much as the “pink”. I used to eat it until mommy and Mimi told me not to swallow it. I think that is a good idea. It lasts longer that way. I can’t do this with my other food for some reason.

I can count to 5. I know the letters A-E and O. Mommy and Daddy seem proud of me that I know what is sour, dark, light, heavy, hard, hot, cold, or warm. They are also happy that I know who loves me – “gee-sis”, God, Mommy, Daddy, Charis, and Mimi (and a bunch of other people too).

We had a birthday party this weekend at the park across from our house. I had a lot of fun. I played in the water and on the sides and fwings. I also got to eat the green cake I was waiting for. It was yummy.

I hope you are doing great. Mommy and Daddy told me to thank you for> praying for me and sending so many cards and gifts. I wish you could all be here for my birthday so I could see you. I’d give you big hugs and kisses (Daddy says they are the best). Thank you for sharing your life with me.

Ruv vu,
Ariana Ann
